Simply put, they are layers that are visible on screen as you’re working with your file but won’t print. I use some of these (particularly the round one corner script) daily. Very helpful to have around. If you poke around, he’s also working on making some of them into live effects (so you could keep them editable) but so far he’s only able to do so for CS3 on the WIndows platform.
